1-Day ROAD TRIP (PUNE TO LONAVALA – 69km)
This itinerary is suitable for Private car, Motorcycle & Cyclists. You can choose between 2 routes, depending on the mood of your gang! Ensure to equip yourself with safety kits in case it is monsoon season.
Car/Bike – Takes 1.5 hours to reach Lonavala
Cycle – Takes 4 hours to reach Lonavala

Route 1: Adventurous and long

There are two ways to reach lonavala from pune. One is through the countryside route crossing Pirangut, Gothawade, Kolvan, Pawananagar and then along beautiful Pawna lake to Lonavala. The route if full of twists and turns so if you are a pro in then go for it. The route is really nice and adventurous.
Stay safe as there are few places which are accident prone like Nigdi to Dehuroad (single way) ,Vadgoan Phata , karla Phata , Manashakti (Valvan)

Route 2: Simple and quick

Some precautions to take incase you travel by cycle or motorcycle is, do not enter the lanes of Pune-Mumbai expressway where two-wheeler are not allowed. Make note that there are lots of unfortunate incidents happening every day on this route, so keep the left most lane to enjoy a hastle-free ride!

TRIP ITINERARY:

  • Once you reach Lonavala, explore Bushi dam to freshen up from the ride
  • You can have your snacks like Misal pav or Poha at Hotel Sainath
  • You may also explore the Lonavala Market area to pick up essentials like food and beverage before heading to any of the tourist points
  • You can explore many different waterfalls, trails and sunset points basis you schedule
  • You should cover these places starting with Tiger’s point (which stands at a height of 650 m), Lions point, Bhaja Caves and Karla Caves
  • Then you can travel to some of the historical forts like Korigad fort, Lohgad fort
  • Return to market area to explore – Lonavala wax museum and Duke’s nose
  • Also, located 15km from Lonavala is the beautiful Rajmachi fort
  • Trip is not complete without having your evening snack at Manashakti, which serves authentic Maharashtrian cuisine and is a local favourite!
