There are two routes to Rajmachi forts: •from Mumbai you can drive upto Kondhane side and do the longer trek (3 – 4 hours) or •from Pune/Lonavala you can drive up to Udhewadi village and do the shorter trek (1hour).
How to Reach Rajmachi fort: There are two ways to reach Rajmachi Fort:
From Lonavala: Lonavala is the nearest railway station and town to Rajmachi Fort. From Lonavala, you can take a taxi or private cab to reach the fort. The distance is about 15 kilometers and the cab fare will be around Rs. 200. You can also take a bus from Lonavala to Udhewadi village, which is the base village for the Rajmachi Fort trek. The bus fare is around Rs. 25. From Udhewadi village, it is a 30-40 minute trek to reach the fort.
From Karjat: Karjat is another town near Rajmachi Fort. From Karjat, you can take a taxi or private cab to Kondhane village, which is the starting point for the longer trek to Rajmachi Fort. The distance is about 35 kilometers and the cab fare will be around Rs. 500. The trek from Kondhane village to Rajmachi Fort is about 3-4 hours long.
Here are some tips for reaching Rajmachi Fort:
The best time to visit Rajmachi Fort is during the monsoon season (June to September) when the views are lush and green. However, the trek can be slippery during this time.
The fort is open from 6am to 6pm.
There is an entry fee of Rs. 5 for adults and Rs. 2 for children.
There are no food or water facilities available at the fort, so it is advisable to carry your own.
